Best position for each NFC South team

Best part of each NFC South team

By: Jake Rajala

The NFC South has many shiny positions. There is QB talent, talent on defense, and even talent on the OL. With that said, I’m going to untwine the best position for each NFC South team.

New Orleans Saints: Wide Receiver

The New Orleans Saints wideout Chris Olave is one of the best young WRs in the NFL. He recorded 400 yards in eight games last season. In 2023, he notched 1,123 yards. At 24 years old, he should make his first Pro Bowl in the near future. I firmly believe that Rashid Shaheed is one of the best deep threats in football. He was on pace for over 900 yards and he was averaging 17.5 YPC, as well. PFF projected him to break out last season and he was on the right track to do so. Unfortunately, the injury bug got both starting wideouts. Their third WR is none other than Brandin Cooks. He can haul in over 700 yards, as he still has some juice.

Runner-Up: Edge rusher

Atlanta Falcons: Running Back

Bijan Robinson is one of the most explosive and tackle-breaking ball-carriers in the league. He recorded 1,456 rushing yards, 14 rushing touchdowns, and 4.8 YPC last season! PFF gave him a score of 92.8, which was second among RBs. Not only do they have a Top-3 RB, but Tyler Allgeier is a quality RB2, as he ran for 644 yards and averaged 4.7 YPC! The Falcons were 10th in rushing yards last season.

Runner-Up: Offensive Line

Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Quarterback

Make No Mistake: Baker Mayfield is a Top-10 QB. Baker unleashed 41 touchdowns (tied for second), 4,500 (third), and had a completion percentage of 71.4 (third). Baker proved to be worth his first-overall pick status. Just as Geno Smith returned from the dead and played like a Pro Bowler, Mayfield returned from the pit and thrived. Let’s not forget about former first-round pick Kyle Trask, who has been a QB2 on the Bucs for an eternity.

Runner-Up: Wide Receiver

Carolina Panthers

I hate to list the same position on this list. Yet, it’s simply true: the Panthers best position is their WR spot. Tetairoa McMillan was a Top-10 pick in this past draft as he looks like Mike Evans or DK Metcalf. Adam Thielen is still playing at a modest level (615 yards and five touchdowns) and then they recently brought in Hunter Renrow to master the slot position.

Runner-Up: Quarterback
