Ranking the best TEs in the AFC North

TEs in the AFC North

By: Jake Rajala

The AFC North is gutsy and often a blood bath. The underrated spot in the division is none other than tight end. With that said, I’m going to put my best football forward and rank the best TEs in the AFC North.

4. Mike Gesicki

Mike Gesicki is the x-factor in Cincy’s offense. They handed out monster contracts to Ja’Marr Chase and Tee Higgins recently. This attention to them will only help Mike. He recorded 655 yards, which is a modest figure. PFF unleashed a below average a 71.5 PFF grade. He should improve moving forward with Joe Burrow, who is the best pocket passer in the division.

3. Pat Freiermuth

Pat would be a Top-2 TE in a few other divisions. He managed to shine with a lackluster QB. He notched several TDs and 653 yards last season. PFF handed him a score of 68.4, which was 18th among 37 TEs. I’d love to see Aaron Rodgers slice up foes in the red zone with Pat.

2. David Njoku

David Njoku is a gifted athlete and he can run all the routes. He isn’t much of a blocker, however. Njoku recorded a career-high 882 yards in 2023. PFF dubbed Njoku as a Top-10 TE in 2023. Clearly, he still has some gas left in the tank.

1. Mark Andrews

Mark Andrews may have fell flat in the playoffs. Nonetheless, this doesn’t change his ability and outlook. Perhaps he can score a touchdown in the Super Bowl for redemption. Andrews hauled in 11 touchdowns and averaged 12.2 yards per catch last season. He is still 29, which is somewhat young in TE years. PFF gave Andrews a grade of 83.8, which was fourth among TEs.
