Carson Wentz best landing spots

Carson Wentz Outlook

By: Jake Rajala

Carson Wentz is one of the top quarterback options in free agency. At 32 years old, Wentz is out to prove that he can still play at a high level. He is also cheaper than Aaron Rodgers.

New Orleans Saints

PFF suggested that the Saints should sign Carson Wentz. He would bring experience to a QB room that has three QBs 25 or younger. If Geno Smith can bounce back late in his career, why can’t Wentz? He may be able to take care of the football better than the other three QBs. I would like to see Wentz replace Jake Haener and compete for the starting gig.

New York Jets

Justin Fields has never started for an entire season. There’s a chance he could struggle or get hurt over an 18 week slate. Even with an 18 week slate, the Jets don’t have the sexiest offense. Davante Adams is out of town. The Jets QB2 Tyrod Taylor has never been able to maintain a starting gig, too.

Indianapolis Colts

Anthony Richardson is the most overrated NFL QB. It would be wise to bring in more experience. Let’s not forget that Wentz had an winning record (9-8) with the Colts in 2021. He threw 27 touchdowns to seven ints. He hasn’t quite got a fair shake at it since then.

Seattle Seahawks

If Sam Darnold was a fluke, they need an admirable QB2. They have Cooper Kupp and Jaxson Smith-Njigba, so they just need a QB to be consistent, have a “high completion percentage with shorter passes”, and not turn the ball over. Darnold had 12 ints last season. He may have more without a Top-3 WR in Justin Jefferson.

Kansas City Chiefs

“If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it”

Wentz was a Top-3 QB2 with the Kansas City Chiefs. He replaced the legend Chad Henne. Wentz has a grip on Andy Reid’s playbook. He would beat out Gardner Minshew for QB2. He also is familiar with the weapons in KC. Patrick Mahomes has missed time in the past two seasons. Hence, it would be wise to have a quality backup QB.
