Re-picking the Top-10 picks of the 2024 draft
By: Jake Rajala
The 2024 NFL Draft had a plethora of talent. There were superb players at each spot taken. With that said, I’m going to take a fun angle by re-drafting the Top-10 picks of the 2024 draft.
1. Chicago Bears: Jayden Daniels
Jayden Daniels hops over Caleb Williams here. Daniels won Offensive Rookie of The Year, as he threw for 25 touchdowns to nine interceptions. He also had 891 rushing yards! With Deebo Samuel joining his offense, they have a realistic shot of winning the Super Bowl within the next couple of seasons.
2. Washington Commanders: Caleb Williams
Caleb Williams isn’t a slouch. He played well, despite having poor pass protection. Williams threw for 20 touchdowns and ran for 489 yards! He only threw six ints, too. Williams has more ability to make crisp throws on the run among all QBs.
3. New England Patriots: Bo Nix
I like Bo Nix a little more than Drake Maye, but it’s close. Nix struggled early in the season, but he made growth in the second half. Nix had an 10-7 record, 29 passing touchdowns, and he even had 430 rushing yards. Sean Payton knew that Nix was gifted.
4. Arizona Cardinals: Marvin Harrison Jr.
Marvin Harrison Jr. can be the sidekick to Kyler Murray for the next decade. Harrison had 8 touchdowns and 883 receiving yards. PFF gave him a modest grade of 77.7, which was 24th among WRs in the league. He should be able to eclipse 10 touchdowns in his second season.
5. Los Angeles Chargers: Joe Alt
The Chargers have their franchise QB, so they just had to find him a long-term answer at pass protection. He was seventh in the league in OROY voting. PFF gave him a grade of 77.6, which is tremendous for a rookie tackle.
6. New York Giants: Drake Maye
Drake Maye didn’t play like a Pro Bowler, but he showed a lot of potential and guts in his rookie season. He threw for 15 TDs to 10 ints last season. He also had a 66.6 completion percentage. PFF handed Maye a grade of 70.1.
7. Tennesee Titans: Michael Penix Jr.
Michael Penix didn’t have the same situation as Jayden Daniels, but he still flashed dual-threat excellence. Right now, it seems clear that Penix Jr. is the long-term answer at QB for the Titans. If the Titans drafted Penix last season, they have still have finished with a first overall pick that could have been used on Travis Hunter.
8. Atlanta Falcons: J..J. McCarthy
J.J. McCarthy would have to be the answer here with the first five QBs off the board! Sadly, McCarthy had a season ending injury. That still doesn’t deny his ability to lead and make tight throws. There may be growing pains for him in that offense, but he’s the best choice for them.
9. Chicago Bears: Brock Bowers
Brock Bowers had one of the best rookie seasons by a TE in NFL history. All he did was haul in 112 catches for 1,194 yards. This led him to garner first-team All-Pro honors. He had an 85.1 PFF grade, which was third among TEs. Even with Cole Kmet, Bowers would find a way to be dominant.
10. Minnesota Vikings: Xavier Worthy
Xavier Worthy proved to be more than a WR with a blistering 40 yard dash. Worthy can run any route and excel with jet sweeps. Worthy recorded I would have loved to see Worthy alongside Justin Jefferson. They could fall back on QB Spencer Rattler in round 2 or 3.
