Re-drafting the Top-10 picks of the 2022 NFL draft

Re-drafting the Top-10 picks of the 2022 NFL draft

By: Jake Rajala

1. Jacksonville Jaguars: Aidan Hutchinson

Aidan Hutchinson missed a big chunk of last season, yet everyone still feels has more potential and ability than Travon Walker. Hutch was on pace to be the sack last season. Travon Walker is a double-digit-sack figure, but he doesn’t look like a DPOY winner.

2. Detroit Lions: Sauce Gardner

If the Lions brought in Sauce Gardner, they may have won the Super Bowl last season. The Detroit Lions ranked 31st in passing yards allowed last season! Meanwhile, the Jets (and Gardner) ranked third in passing YPG! Garnder was first-team All-Pro in 2022 and 2023.

3. Houston Texans: Trent McDuffie

As a junior in the league, Trent McDuffie ranked third in PFF among all CBs! He only had a pair of ints, so he needs to work on catching the ball. If the Texans don’t want to go defense here, I’d love to see them target a wideout.

4. New York Jets: Brock Purdy

It may seem strange to move a player who was drafted with the last pick to a Top-5 pick. The Jets wouldn’t have to bring in Aaron Rodgers or Justin Fields (who is far from secure). Purdy would be the top QB off the board here.

5. New York Giants: Travon Walker

Travon Walker is an upgrade over Kavyon Thobideaux on the edge. Walker has 21 career sacks, while Walker has 24 career sacks. However, it should be noted that Kavyon missed five games last season. It should be noted that Walker has played with a poorer defense and scheme than what is going on with the Giants.

6. Carolina Panthers: Tyler Smith

The top OL comes off the board here! The Panthers should have went with Tyler Smith, who can really move people. There is still a lot of time to improve their weapons. He had an average PFF grade of 75.

7. New York Giants: Drake London

Drake London can do it all. He can be red zone threat and a deep threat down the middle. London is arguably a Top-3 WR alongside Malik Nabers and Cedee Lamb in the NFC East.

8. Atlanta Falcons: Garrett Wilson

A string of WRs come off the board here. Garrett Wilson deserved to be a Top-10 pick. He has recorded three straight 1k yard seasons. He has done that with a messed up QB situation, as well.

9. Seattle Seahawks: Chris Olave

Seattle Seahawks would have found a WR that could be a prolific deep threat in Chris Olave. Besides DK Metcalf, it was clear they needed another potent WR. In 39 games, Olave has mustered out 2,565 receiving yards.

10. New York Jets: Derek Stingley Jr.

The Jets need to go WR here after missing out on Sauce earlier in the draft. Derek Stingley Jr. will still turn out to be a Top-5 CB. Stingley Jr. was first-team All-Pro last season! If the Jets want to slow down Josh Allen, who they will face twice, they need more talent on their secondary. .
