Saints vs Cardinals: bold predictions
By: Jake Rajala
Week 1 isn’t more than a few months away! With that said, I’m going to untwine five bold predictions for the Saints-Cardinals contest in Week 1.
- Kyler Murray throws three ints
I could foresee the Cardinals testing the Saints outside CBs, especially with Marshon Lattimore and Paulson Adebo out of the building. I believe that will be a mistake. Kool-Aid McKinstry is still there and ready to thrive after a young, back-up last season. The Honey Badger will also seek to shine against his former team!
- The Saints rush for no more than 25 years
The Cardinals are going to throw in everything to stop the run. They want Tyler Shough or Spencer Rattler to beat them with his arm. It will difficult for Alvin Kamara to find space. I still expect him to find success via a screen, but the Cardinals will pile up everyone near the line of scrimmage to stop the run.
- Cam Jordan gets a pair of sacks
It’s well known that Cam Jordan has fell off a cliff over the past two seasons. Well, I expect him to have a lot of energy and use his experience to not fall for the read option in this contest.
- Demario Davis has two takeaways
Demario Davis may be an old man (similar to Jordan), but he can still play at a high level. He’s one of the best blitzers from the LB spot. He will use this to his advantage by having a couple of forced fumbles.
- The Eagles have four or more sacks
I love the addition of Calais Campbell to their defense. He can either get a sack or eat up a double team for his teammate to get there. Josh Sweat is also a fine cherry on top. The Saints don’t have the sexiest pass protectors. Taliese Fuaga and Trevor Penning are a bit shaky.
