Best trade destinations for Chris Olave

Best destinations for Chris Olave

By: Jake Rajala

There has been some speculation that the Pittsburgh Steelers have wanted Chris Olave to come to their squad and essentially replace George Pickens. The Saints haven’t expressed interest in this idea, but any team is open to a trade if there is a lot on the table. With that said, I’m going to untwine the best destinations for Chris Olave.

Pittsburgh Steelers

DK Metcalf and Olave would easily be a Top-5 WR tandem. Robert Woods is the Steelers WR2 at this moment. He is most certainly a journey man WR. I don’t even love the idea of him at WR3! If they get Olave, it would be hard to imagine that Aaron Rodgers wouldn’t want to go there. The Steelers are also sixth in cap space, so they have some room to be aggressive. Metcalf and Olave are good at winning in space, which would help any QB, as a QB can throw screens and short throws to the WR.

Cleveland Browns

The Browns have four modest QBs, but the issue is they don’t have a lot of firepower at WR! After Jerry Jeudy, it’s a drop-off at WR. Cedric Tillman hauled in 339 yards a season ago. PFF blessed him with a 63.6 grade for 2024. David Njoku can make magic happen at TE, but he’s not a 1k-receiving TE right now. If Olave doesn’t pan out, I’d love to see them reunite with Amari Cooper or even OBJ.

New England Patriots

Drake Maye may be an All-Pro with Stefon Diggs and Olave in his arsenal. Diggs is still playing at a very high level. The Pats WR2 is DeMario Douglas. He isn’t bad for a sixth round pick, but he’s not a true WR2 right now. He recorded 621 yards and three touchdowns last season. He only averaged 9.4 YPC last season, which isn’t exactly daunting.

Chicago Bears

The Chicago Bears aren’t exactly desperate for a wideout. Nonetheless, they play in a division where three teams made the playoffs last season. They need a figure that can help them get over the hump and help Caleb Williams take the next step. Plus, they no longer have Keenan Allen. Olave would be the prime replacement.

Miami Dolphins

I believe that Tyreek Hill’s future is murky. If he doesn’t get cut for punishments, I believe he will likely stay for 2-3 more seasons at most. Olave and Jaylen Waddle can be the future at WR. Right now, Olave can still be a 1k receiver with Hill and Waddle still holding down their part. With the three WRs, the Dolphins will have an easier chance at taking down the Buffalo Bills.

Honorable Mention:

San Francisco 49ers

I don’t believe that the San Francisco 49ers have done a superb job of replacing Deebo Samuel. Brandon Aiyuk can be the rightful WR1, but I’d like to see Olave as the WR2 or WR3. He can beat the secondary with pure speed. Olave and George Kittle would really harm secondaries next to each other.
