The Eagles could go undefeated
By: Jake Rajala
The Philadelphia Eagles are licking their chops at the opportunity to win back to back Super Bowls. With that said, they will face serious adversity. After all, the Kansas City Chiefs failed to do so. With that said, I will untwine the Eagles road blocks.
- Schedule
The Eagles have the fourth most difficult schedule. Not only is their schedule challenging, but the two NFC East teams that were slouches (Cowboys and Giants), should be noticeably better. The Boys will have a healthy Dak Prescott and I expect Jaxson Dart to take the Giants to a near .500 record. Let’s not forget about the reigning OROY Jayden Daniels, who welcomed Deebo Samuel into his offense.
- Darius Slay
It won’t be easy to replace the veteran cornerback Darius Slay Jr (after losing James Bradberry last season). All Slay did was record 12 pass breakups last season, which was 3rd in the league. Of course, Slay went to the Pittsburgh Steelers. Kelee Ringo will step up in his place. Ringo is not a quality CB right now. I don’t love that the reigning Super Bowl Champions essentially didn’t properly replace him.
- Tush push
The news is out: the tush push stays alive!
The tush push isn’t unstoppable. Just as teams found a way to slow down rushing QBs like RG3, teams (especially the NFC East teams) will find a way to penetrate the tush push. This may even mean trying unique personal.
The Eagles are gritty and talented at the same time. Not only did the Eagles win the last Super Bowl against the Chiefs, but they dominated the Chiefs. Thankfully, their core of prolific players will return. This will certainly help their chances, even if they face many playoff caliber teams.
Obviously, I can’t wait to see how teams try to stop the tush push.
