Detroit Lions: 5 hardest games

Lions hardest games

By: Jake Rajala

The Detroit Lions sit in a very competitive AFC North division. The only AFC North team that didn’t make the playoffs last season was the Chicago Bears and they should welcome growth from Caleb Williams, who is entering his second season. It should be noted that it won’t be easy for the Lions to return to a 15 win squad. They lost both of their coordinators. With that said, I’m going to take a deep dive into their schedule and discuss their five hardest games.

Philadelphia Eagles

The reigning Super Bowl Champions will not be an easy fight. They have a young group of elite players. Jalen Hurts, Jalen Carter, Cooper DeJean, DeVonta Smith, and Zack Baun are all growing. I even believe that Saquon Barkley, who won OPOY last season, still has a few Pro Bowl seasons left in the tank. Plus, the Eagles stadium isn’t fun to play in as a foe.

Minnesota Vikings

If the Minnesota Vikings get an upgrade over the 2024 version of Sam Darnold, they should be a 13-15 win team for the second straight season. Justin Jefferson plays the WR position, but he will still dominate, regardless of the opposing coverage. The Vikings ranked 4th in PPG allowed, so it’s safe to say their defense will do its part. Of course, the Lions and Vikings square off twice. I could see them splitting games.

Baltimore Ravens

The Baltimore Ravens welcomed the arrival of DeAndre Hopkins, who fled from the Kansas City Chiefs. Their defense is still vicious and versatile. Their edge rush is superb with Kyle Van Noy. Their secondary is led by Kyle Hamilton who is one of the best overall safeties. The Ravens will be hell-bent on winning the Super Bowl, as Derrick Henry is over 30 years old, Hopkins is 32, and Van Noy is 34!

Kansas City Chiefs

The Lions upset the Chiefs two seasons ago. That was the game where Kadarius Toney played awful and gave the Lions a gift. The Chiefs first round pick from last season, Xavier Worthy, should be a 1k yard receiver next season. Of course, Chris Jones is arguably the best DT in the NFL and he will make life miserable for Jared Goff.

Los Angeles Rams

The Los Angeles Rams will reap foes with the best WR tandem in the league (Puka Nacua and Davante Adams). Matthew Stafford still has a few seasons left in the tank. Their defense isn’t perfect. They were able to harrass opposing QBs – as they ranked sixth in sacks. However, they ranked 15th in PPG allowed.
