Does Moore have a short leash?
By: Jake Rajala
Kellen Moore was brought over from the Super Bowl reigning Philadelphia Eagles squad, where he was their offensive coordinator. He is seen as a genius on the offensive side of the ball. Saquon Barkley won Offensive Player of The Year and Jalen Hurts had a personal best TD% in Moore’s offense. With that said, a fascinating question arises: Does Kellen Moore have a short leash?
I don’t believe that he has a short leash. The Saints are rolling with three QBs and none of them have won an NFL game. Moore shouldn’t get blamed if he struggles with a QB that’s not seen as a Top-20 QB. Plus, the Saints defense is on the verge of collapsing, as Cam Jordan, Demario Davis, and Tyrann Mathieu are either washed up or on the cusp of being washed up.
I believe that Moore will be given a few seasons, similar to Dennis Allen. If he can put up fireworks on offense, I’d like to see Moore stay, regardless of their record. In such a situation, I’d like to see them bring in a new defensive coordinator. We witnessed Sean Payton stay in the city due to his prolific offense, regardless of how putrid the defense was.
I don’t want to see Moore tear down the wall. They have a group of weapons that can drop 40 points on any defense. They also brought in Kelvin Banks Jr. to protect their young, future QB. I’d even like to see the Saints stay aggressive and ink Amair Cooper!
In the end, I believe that the NFL media is sleeping on the potential of the Saints. I foresee the Saints putting up fireworks in their division and reaching the playoffs within a couple of seasons. This would keep Moore’s job and silence the haters.
