Latest Aaron Rodgers outlook
By: Jake Rajala
If you live under a rock, you may realize that Aaron Rodgers said he doesn’t want to play for the Saints. He essentially said he’s too old to live in Louisiana. So, is that A-Rod being honest or goofy?
I would say he’s being serious.
I believe the location has to be the issue. It’s hard for me to believe that the Saints are worse than the Steelers. The Saints carry Chris Olave, Rashid Shaheed, and even Brandin Cooks at WR. Meanwhile, the Steelers WR2 is Robert Wood, who is blatantly washed up. The Saints also arguably have a more potent offensive line than the Steelers, especially with their recent first round draft pick of Kelvin Banks Jr.
On the flip side, The Steelers ranked 26th in sacks allowed last season.
The Saints don’t have the sexiest defense to help out the QB. They ranked 18th in PPG allowed. Well, the Steelers ranked sixth in PPG allowed. The Steelers also have someone by the name of T.J. Watt and another face by the name of Minkah Fitzpatrick.
It’s very common for elite, somewhat burnt out players to play in a warm climate. All too often have players picked to play in Florida for the climate. Even J.J. Watt factored in the weather in Arizona before joining the Cardinals.
It is somewhat surprising that A-Rod considers Pittsburgh to be a relaxing, fine area to play his final days in. Or perhaps he will surprise the football world and play somewhere other than Pittsburgh! In the end, he will be chasing a Lombardi trophy, as he’s expressed that he isn’t chasing money.
