Overrated young WRs
By: Jake Rajala
There are many young wideouts pegged in the top 25, despite key issues. With that said, I’m going to untwine a few overrated young WRs right now.
Chris Olave
Chris Olave has impressive ball skills, but he hasn’t quite put it all together. This is a key reason that he may get traded. Olave has failed to make the Pro Bowl. He had a shiny PFF grade of 82.4. However, I’d like to see him be more consistent and not scared to take hits. As a Saints fan, I have faith that he will wreak havoc and unleash a 1,300-yard season in 2025.
Michael Pittman
Across a span of five seasons, Pittman hasn’t played lights out. He recorded his second lowest yard count (808) since his rookie season. He has also failed to score more than six TDs in a single season. PFF handed Pittman a 72.2 grade for his work last season. To be fair, it’s hard to dazzle with Jonathan Taylor getting 303 carries, which is the fifth most carries in the league.
Brandon Aiyuk
Brandon Aiyuk has been on a roller coaster through his career. He was once seen as the WR that would get traded, prior to Deebo Samuel getting shipped out. To make things worse, he suffered a knee injury that shut his season down after seven games. He should get a plethora of targets, so he’s in the right place.
Honorable Mention:
Courtland Sutton
Courtland Sutton is the oldest WR on this list. I still believe he slightly should be talked about as he’s under 30. Sean Payton clearly believes that Courtland Sutton can hold the fort down. I believe this is quite risky. He recorded 1,081 yards, which is impressive. I still don’t believe he can be a Top-15 WR. After all, PFF dubbed him as the 31st WR! They also gave him a 74.3 PFF grade. I believe that Payton needs to get creative, as he doesn’t have any elite toys.
