Best landing spots for Cam Akers

Spots for Cam Akers

By: Jake Rajala

Cam Akers is a shifty, explosive ball-carrier. The issue is that he can’t stay healthy or consistent. He needs to regain his 2022 form where he unveiled 903 total yards and several touchdowns. There is bound to be a team that sees his up-side and wants to sign him. Hence, I’m going to untwine several spots for the free agent.

Los Angeles Rams

There is chemistry between Sean McVay and Akers. After all, Akers played his first three seasons in LA. This isn’t a situation where they were intrigued in bringing back Todd Gurley. Gurly was washed up. End of story.

New Orleans Saints

The Saints showed Jamaal Williams the exit. They need a quality RB2. Kendre Miller has flashes of greatness, but he simply can’t stay healthy, or productive enough to play on game-day. Miller has only played 14 games over the past two seasons combined. Kendre is 22, however, so his potential is still alive.

Kansas City Chiefs

The KC Chiefs have had musical chairs at their RB spot. Isiah Pacheco has been up and down. Kareem Hunt isn’t the powerful RB he once was. If they can’t reel in a Top-20 RB (such as James Conner or Travie Etienne), I’d love to see them go with Akers.

Las Vegas Raiders

It’s unclear how special Ashton Jeanty will be. He has quite impressive traits, but it’s unclear if he has flaws that will hold him back early on. He may have fumble issues, or issues blocking, or a problem with catching short passes. I’d love to see them bring in a veteran to help hold down the fort.

Cleveland Browns

Not only do the Browns need a more potent RB room, but they need a talented RB that can help carry a young or old QB. The Browns current RB1 is none other than Jerome Ford, who registered an 71.2 PFF grade last season, which was 29th among 47 RBs.

Dallas Cowboys

Miles Sanders is a step older and less efficient than Akers. So, it shouldn’t come as surprise that he’s on the trade block. They also have Javonte Williams, who just isn’t going to take it to the house. The Boys also brought in George Pickens, so they’re not scared to take risks.

San Francisco 49ers

The 49ers can never have enough RBs. Kyle Shanahan would love nothing more than scoring against the Rams with a former Ram. Let it be known that Christian McCaffrey also has injury issues. He played four games last season, 7 games in 2021, and 3 games in 2020.
