Buccaneers vs Falcons
By: Jake Rajala
The Atlanta Falcons duke it out with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Week 1. It will be a blood-bath right away. The Falcons are rolling with Michael Penix Jr. The second-year QB threw 3 TDs to 3 ints and captured a record 1-2. He also has the prettiest throw in the air, similar to Russell Wilson’s deep throw.
There isn’t time to press the panic button. We’ve witnessed countless rookies not shine, such as Jordan Love and even Peyton Manning.
The Falcons need their third year back, Bijan Robinson, to arrive. He ran angry for 1,400+ yards last season! He had a 92.8 PFF grade for his last season’s grade. This was second among RBs.
Penix Jr. is squaring off against a QB that’s been around the league. This figure is a gunslinger and the second coming of Brett Favre. He isn’t Jameis Winston, rather he is Baker Mayfield!
Baker threw for 41 touchdowns, but he also threw for a league-leading 16 ints. The Falcons, who rank 17th in ints need to find a way to snag a int or two against Baker.
The Bucs have two very different sides of their defense. They are third in rushing yards per game allowed. Then they are 30th in passing yards per game allowed. Hence, this was a big reason that Kirk threw for 509 yards against them in their second meeting.
The Falcons are 4-1 against the Bucs. Last season, the Falcons swept the Bucs. This may come as a surprise with the Bucs reaching the playoffs.
I expect Drake London and Mike Evans to have big performances given the circumstances. I expect a lot of points in this contest and then a dog-fight, gritty showcase in their second meeting this season.
