Reflecting on the Top-10 picks of the 2023 draft
By: Jake Rajala
The 2023 NFL draft was filled with superstars, quality play-makers, and imposing defenders. There are many players that left their mark on the league from this class thus far. So, do they fit in the Top-10 of the 2023 draft? With that said, I’m going to do a re-draft of the Top-10 pick of the 2023 draft! Let’s begin.
1. Carolina Panthers: CJ Stroud
CJ Stroud has been more impressive than the 5’10 Bryce Young thus far. He won OROY and made the Pro Bowl in his first season. He showed that a Wonderlic score doesn’t determine the outcome for a player. Stroud has unleashed a 19-13 record thus far.
2. Houston Texans: Bryce Young
Well, it makes sense for the Texans to take a QB here and the best one available is Bryce Young. After growing pains in the start of 2024, he bounced back and showed his worth as a franchise QB. He has more firepower this season, so he should take the next step.
3. Houston Texans: Jalen Carter
The Texans aren’t in dire need for a DT. Nonetheless, Jalen Carter has Hall of Fame ability. He can’t be ignored. He opens up opportunities for his teammates, if he doesn’t make the play.
4. Indianapolis Colts: Will Anderson
Simple enough. Will Anderson is a double digit sack master. He has Khalil Mack power to make each play. He also has a superb motor. PFF gave him a score of 85.1, which was 10th in the league.
5. Seattle Seahawks: Bijan Robinson
Bijan Robinson can help the Hawks excel in one of the NFL’s toughest division. Kenneth Walker is a modest RB, but I don’t believe he’s a Pro Bowler. Robinson will bring back memories of Marshawn Lynch.
6. Arizona Cardinals: Paris Johnson
Don’t underestimate the big men. The OT Paris Johnson is quite needed for Kyler Murray. This pick helped the Cards rank fifth in sacks allowed.
7. Las Vegas Raiders: Anthony Richardson
Sure, the Raiders acquired Geno Smith. However, Smith is 34 years old and he may retire in a few years. I’d love to see Anthony Richardson groomed in this situation. Smith may start long-term, but Richardson will push him and potentially make the Raiders ship away Smith and roll with Richardson.
8. Atlanta Falcons: Jamhyr Gibbs
The Falcons can’t scoop up Bijan Robinson, so they settle for the second best RB: Jamhyr Gibbs. He ran for 1,412 yards, averaging 5.6 YPC, and 16 rushing touchdowns! Gibbs and Bijan are neck and neck for the best RB award.
9. Philadelphia Eagles: Jaxon Smith-Njigba
Philly could have the best WR trio in the league with Jaxon. They also have Saquon Barkley, who obviously brings a spark. It would be hard to imagine that Jalen Hurts wouldn’t be an MVP candidate with these toys.
10. Chicago Bears: Puka Nacua
The Bears could walk out of this draft with a WR that has All-Pro ability. He will help lift up a young QB, such as Caleb Williams. Puka registered a PFF grade of 92.8, which was first among WRs!
