Worst case for the Cleveland Browns
By: Jake Rajala
The Cleveland Browns are in a complex situation. They have a question mark at quarterback, but they still have elite pieces, such as Myles Garrett and Denzel Ward. With that said, I’m going to untwine the best and worst case for the Cleveland Browns.
worst case
I expect the 40 yard signal-caller Joe Flacco to start, but I could see an avalanche from him at the QB spot. After all, Flacco went 2-4 last season, while throwing several interceptions. There is also a situation where Flacco gets injured or benched. He hasn’t played a full season since 2017! The Browns also desperately need weapons, besides their TE David Njoku. They have failed to replace Nick Chubb and Amari Cooper. They have Jerry Jeudy, but I would say he’s a good WR2, such as Tee Higgins.
best case
Flacco went 4-1 in 2023. He has the veteran ability to control the offense and make big plays off-play action. He has also won a Super Bowl, by turning it up a notch in key situations. The Browns also have a pass rush that can dismantle the Bengals putrid pass protection. Ja’Marr Chase, DeAndre Hopkins, and DK Metcalf can be “slowed” down by Denzel Ward.
I really don’t have a lot of hope in the Browns. They have a division where three teams could make the playoffs (and I’m not talking about the Browns). I’d like to see Shedeur Sanders and Dillon Gabriel thrown into the fire around mid-season, so the Browns can figure out how much potential they carry.
