Outlook for Taysom Hill
By: Jake Rajala
Taysom Hill is a freak of nature. He can squat 685 pounds and run a 4.4. Due to his athletic ability and hunger, he can still perform at a high level. With that said, I’m going to untwine the floor and ceiling for Hill.
Floor
I believe the floor for Hill is roughly 400 total yards and 3-4 touchdowns. He is usually well-used in the red-zone, but the Saints may pass the ball to their big 3 WRs (Chris Olave, Rashid Shaheed, and Brandin Cooks) more moving forward. There is also a case to be made that Hill can’t stay healthy with a huge load at 34 years old, after only playing in eight games last season. Travis Kelce is 35 and he will most likely retire after the upcoming season.
Ceiling
I believe that Hill’s ceiling is 10 rushing touchdowns, 800 total yards, and three passing touchdowns. He recorded 9 touchdowns in 2022 and 9 TDs in 2020. I believe that Kellen Moore is an elite play-caller that can properly utilize Hill, especially in the red zone. Under Moore, Jalen Hurts had 14 rushing touchdowns. We’ve witnessed Hill put together a performance of throwing, catching, and running for dominance in a single Saints playoff contest.
In the end, it’s hard to predict how an versatile, aging player is right now. Hill will most likely play for a few more seasons at most. Most running backs and tight ends don’t play into their late 30s. Hell, even most QBs don’t play in their late 30s.
