PFF says the Eagles have the best WR group
By: Jake Rajala
The NFL is filled with gifted wide receivers. Many of these wideouts are young, as well. With that said, there was a recent article by PFF that cited the Eagles as having the best WR group. With that said, a question rises: is this true?
The Eagles starting WRs are A.J. “book worm” Brown, former Heisman winner DeVonta Smith, and former first round pick Jahan Dotson. Their best WR AJ Brown is a Top-5 WR across the league. All he did last season was unveil 16.1 YPC and 1,079 yards in 13 games. This led him to making his third straight second-team All-Pro honors. PFF gave him a 90.8 PFF grade, which was third in the league.
Smith may get knocked for his size, however, he hasn’t let that slow him down. He also missed four games. Yet, he recorded 833 yards and eight touchdowns last season. Dotson is a modest WR. He had 518 yards in 2023.
So..
Is this the most glorious WR group in the league?
This may get me in trouble, but I believe the LA Rams have the best WR group in the league. Puka Nacua was rated the highest WR by PFF with a grade of 92.8! He is also entering his prime. He was second-team All-Pro as a rookie. I’m very excited to see what his third season has in store.
Tae is still explosive at this stage in his career. He missed a few games last season, but he still had 1,063 yards and eight touchdowns. He will be in a better system with Sean McVay than his situation in Las Vegas and New York.
I don’t believe that Smith can be an All-Pro in Philly. Yet, the Rams have two capable All-Pro WRs. I also believe that Puka is slightly better than Brown, which is also backed up by PFF.
I would say the Eagles have a Top-5 WR group. This ranking is entirely due to their two starting WRs and not Dotson.
I believe a team like Philly or Cincy would pass over the Rams WR ranking if they added a WR like Amari Cooper or OBJ. There are still some old FA WRs that can be productive in their remaining years of football.
