2011 NFL Draft Recap
By: Jake Rajala
The 2011 NFL Draft is arguably one of the best draft classes of all time. It seemed like each Top-10 pick was a slam dunk and many other late first round draft picks turned out quite well. With that said, I’m going to do a re-draft of the first ten picks of the 2011 NFL Draft. Let’s begin.
1. Carolina Panthers: Cam Newton
Cam Newton won an MVP award and he led his team to the Super Bowl. He had a season of 12-4 and another monster season of 15-1! It’s hard to find a quality franchise QB. The Panthers were able to do so.
2. Denver Broncos: J.J. Watt
Sure, Von Miller is a future Hall of Famer. Well, J.J. Watt is on the Mount Rushmore of defensive players from all time. Watt won DPOY three times!
3. Buffalo Bills: Patrick Peterson
If the Bills can put up a lot of points, they need a CB to slow down the WR1 of the opposing team. My second choice for Buffalo would be a WR. PP has made eight Pro Bowls!
4. Cincinnati Bengals: Von Miller
Von Miller is too good of a player to slip out of the Top-5. Miller is a player that can close out big games. After all, he won MVP of a Super Bowl.
5. Arizona Cardinals: Julio Jones
The Arizona Cardinals would put up a lot of points with Kyler Murray and Jones. Murray deserves help. Marvin Harrison Jr. can’t be the savior by himself.
6. Cleveland Browns: Cameron Jordan
Cameron Jordan is gritty and superb against the run and pass. He may be a tad washed up right now, but he was once a figure that made six straight Pro Bowls.
7. San Francisco 49ers: Richard Sherman
Richard Sherman was a Top-5 CB in the league for a long time. He is a perfect John Lynch draft pick, as he’s gifted and a defensive back.
8. Tennessee Titans: Tyron Smith
Tyron Smith has been one of the best LTs in the league for the past decade. He can block for a young QB. The issue he has is that he can’t stay healthy.
9. Dallas Cowboys: A.J. Green
The Boys can’t pass on an All-Pro WR, especially after losing Dez Bryant and then Amari Cooper. I’d love to see Dak link up with Green, even if Green is on his last legs.
10. Washington Commanders: Ryan Kerrigan
Ryan Kerrigan is a borderline Hall of Famer. He doesn’t have to worry about Tyron Smith, who is in a Titans jersey.
