Best destinations for Kavyon Thibodeaux
By: Jake Rajala
The New York Giants drafted Abdul Carter in the 2025 NFL Draft. This came despite having Brian Burns and Kavyon Thibodeaux. With that said, there is a lot of speculation that Kavyon is the odd man out. Hence, I’m going to unfold the best destinations for him.
Kavyon in 2024 (12 games):
- 5.5 sacks
- 17 QB hits
- 8 TFLs
Cincinnati Bengals
There is no question about it. The Bengals are the perfect fit for Kavyon. They need a quality edge rusher across from Trey Hendrickson, who had 17.5 sacks last season. Plus, Kavyon is 24 years old, which is six years younger than Trey. If they want to beat the Chiefs, they have to do so with their front four. If they blitz, they’re likely to get burned. Plus, the Bengals were 25th in sacks, so they could use more sack masters.
Cleveland Browns
Just as Myles Garrett was joined by Jadeveon Clowney, Clowney needs a new partner. Kavyon, Garrett would significantly improve their odds to beat the gifted dual-threat QB Lamar Jackson and the stat machine Joe Burrow on the edge. Let’s not forget about Mason Graham, who has Chris Jones-like ability, from the inside.
Carolina Panthers
The Panthers boldly let Clowney leave. This creates a hole at the DE spot. The Panthers were 29th in sacks last season. The Panthers don’t have a double-digit sack figure right now. They’re hoping their second round draft choice in 2025 at OLB Nic Scourton can be the top pass-rusher.
Buffalo Bills
Sure, the Bills added Joey Bosa. Well, he’s far from dependable. He hasn’t had over 6.5 sacks since 2021. He only played in 5 games in 2022, 9 games in 2023, and 14 games last season. Plus, Kavyon is much younger than Joey (who is 29). I would have much rather seen the Bills bring back Von Miller on a one-year contract.
Los Angeles Chargers
Kavyon and Khalil Mack could be one of the top-edge rushing tandems in the league. Kavyon could fill the shoes left by Bosa. Mack made his third straight Pro Bowl last season. Mack had a PFF grade of 90.4 last season.
I’d love to see the Giants include Kavyon in a trade for a QB. He has All-Pro potential at 24 years old. Abdul Carter and Burns will likely be one of the top DE tandems in the league. The Giants should use his potential on the trading block, rather than as a third DE.
