Outlook for Bryce Young
By: Jake Rajala
Bryce Young is a complex case. He started out slow last season, which got him benched. He took the adversity to heart and bounced back. He finished with 15 TDs to 9 ints. He also had a 4-8 record, which is an improvement from his rookie season (where he had a 2-14 record). With that said, I’m going to unfold his floor and ceiling.
Floor
Young has shown improvement this off-season. According to RotoBaller, Young has shown more intensity and comfort! The Panthers have a slew of quality weapons. However, Adam Thielen, is turning 35 in August. He may not be a 1k-yard WR anymore. Besides the situation in CAR, the Panthers will face an improved division. The Saints won’t have a version of Spencer Rattler that went 0-9, even if he does start. Michael Penix Jr. has also drawn impressive reviews, as he will most likely start over Kirk Cousins.
I believe his floor is 22 touchdowns and 3,000 yards.
Ceiling
The Panthers don’t have a slouch offensive line for Young. They were 11th in sacks allowed. The Panthers also have an improved WR group, even if Thielen is slightly more washed up. They drafted Tetairoa McMillan 9th overall! He reminds me of DK Metcalf and Mike Evans. They also brought in Hunter Renfrow. The Panthers were 23rd in points scored last season. I fully expect that spot to change in 2025.
I believe his ceiling is 30 touchdowns and 4,500 passing yards.
Bryce Young may be a shorter QB who hasn’t won a lot of games yet, but he has star potential. He has made magical plays and he’s been more consistent as of late. He could be the worst QB in the NFC South or the best QB in the NFC South in 2025.
I believe it’s somewhat risky for the Panthers to not have a Top-10 backup QB. Young may struggle or get injured, partially due to his size. Perhaps the Panthers can have a reunion with Teddy Bridgewater.
