Best destinations for Joe Flacco
By: Jake Rajala
It appears that former first round pick Kenny Pickett is the favorite to start at the moment. If he holds onto the gig, it would make sense to move on from Joe Flacco. I imagine he wants to ride off into the sunset, instead of being a 40 year old back-up QB. Hence, I’m going to unfold the best trade spots for Flacco.
New Orleans Saints
The Saints really need a veteran QB. Tyler Shough is unproven and injury prone. Meanwhile, Spencer Rattler went 0-9 last season. They are the only team with a QB crew that hasn’t won a game! Flacco could use his big arm to utilize the deep speed of Rashid Shaheed, Chris Olave, and Brandin Cooks.
Indianapolis Colts
He should seek redemption in a Colts uniform, after going 2-4 with Indy last season. He threw a modest 12 touchdowns, but that wasn’t enough. Anthony Richardson hasn’t dazzled yet and he’s injury prone. On the flip-side, his defense was 24th in PPG allowed. At least one of the FA signees from Indy was Charvarius Ward, who plays CB.
New England Patriots
Drake Maye hasn’t proven himself quite yet, despite making the Pro Bowl with 15 TDs to 10 ints. He also went 3-9 last season, which couldn’t have even been done by Flacco. I believe there’s a realistic chance Maye gets benched if he starts out 1-3 or 2-5.
New York Jets
Justin Fields has a career record of 14-30. Not only does he have a messy start to his career, but he was benched last season. Flacco could honestly start before Week 1 if he can get command of the offense. The only drawback is that Flacco isn’t as mobile as Fields.
Carolina Panthers
Bryce Young bounced back last season, but that doesn’t mean he’s a Top-15 QB. I trust Flacco to use the big three WRs (Tetairoa McMillan, Adam Thielen, and Xavier Legette) properly. Young needs to learn to stay in the pocket, unleash a bomb, and take the hits.
Honorable Mention:
Jacksonville Jaguars
If Trevor Lawrence plays like he did last year, he will get benched. Simple enough. He has more pressure than any other QB in the league in my opinion. He was a first-overall pick, yet he unveils .500 records and average passing stats.
I expect the Browns to keep Dillon Gabriel and Shedeur Sanders. I foresee the veteran that doesn’t start, Kenny Pickett or Joe Flacco, getting removed from the building. I still believe that Flacco or Pickett can win elsewhere.
