Floor and ceiling for Matthew Stafford
By: Jake Rajala
Matthew Stafford is one of the most gutsy, unique quarterbacks of the 21st century. With that said, Stafford is hell-bent on winning another Super Bowl. Of course, he no longer has the help from Aaron Donald. Hopefully, Sean McVay is still a Ram, while Stafford is around. With that said, I’m going to unfold the floor and ceiling for Stafford.
Floor
Stafford has more range than any other QB. In 2021, he unleashed 41 touchdowns. In the same season, he led the league in ints (17)! In 2022, he had his worst season as a Ram. He only played in nine games. Of those 9 games, he went 3-6! Ouch. He threw 10 TD to 8 int, which isn’t exactly daunting. Stafford has been a turnover machine and injury prone often. He lost Cooper Kupp, but I believe Davante Adams is a better replacement.
I believe his floor is throwing 20 TDs to 15 ints.
Ceiling
If you surround Stafford with good weapons and a formidable defense, he will usually have a winning record. He went 9-6 in 2023 while throwing 24 TDs to 11 ints. This led to his second Pro Bowl berth. In 2024, he went 10-6! Stafford will improve off a modest 2023 season, as he will have Davante Adams and a healthy Puka Nacua, who missed six games last season! PFF dubbed Puka as the best WR last season. Puka is only 24 years old, too!
I believe his ceiling is throwing 35 TDs and 8 ints.
Trying to crack Stafford is harder than finding who the Zodiac killer is. He is the ultimate double edge sword. I’d love to see him throw around 40 TDs without throwing 15+ ints. I hope he can win another Lombardi because the city of LA deserves to have another Lombardi trophy.
Stafford is 37, so he won’t be around forever. I could foresee the Rams drafting a QB early in the 2026 draft.
