Vic Fangio outlook
By: Jake Rajala
We witnessed former Philadelphia Eagles offensive coordinator Kellen Moore leave for a head coaching job. I believe that the Eagles defensive coordinator Vic Fangio will get another crack as an HC. His defense ranked first in PPG allowed. They also ranked first in yards allowed! Hence, I’m going to lay out proper fits for him.
New York Jets
I don’t love Justin Fields, and I believe Aaron Glenn will go down with him. Fields is 14-30 and that doesn’t point out that Fields was benched last season. I believe that Vic has proven to be a better defensive mind. Glenn was succesful, but he wasn’t elite. His defense ranked 11th in PPG allowed last season. His defense ranked sixth in rushing yards allowed, which stood out.
Cleveland Browns
Kevin Stefanski has won gold (Coach of The Year) twice, but he really hit and missed with Deshaun Watsion. I’d love to see a defensive minded head coach work with Myles Garrett and Denzel Ward. Gregg Williams had success with the Browns. Perhaps another veteran DC can work well as a HC in Cleveland.
New York Giants
It would be a dream come true for Vic to play with a defense that has Kavyon Thibodeaux, Abdul Carter, Dexter Lawrence, and Brian Burns. The Giants defense is too good to be 20th in PPG allowed. The Giants offense can also be potent long-term if Jaxson Dart sits for a year behind Russell Wilson.
Miami Dolphins
Vic is a Super Bowl winner, while Mike McDaniel can’t defeat a winning team. Plus, McDaniel won’t have Tyreek Hill to lean on much longer. I’d love to see the Phins bring in a fresh face. Fangio taking on Josh Allen twice a season would be the price of admission.
Cincinnati Bengals
I believe the Cincinnati Bengals are a dark horse team to land Vic. They have failed to make the playoffs the past two seasons. If Zac Taylor fails to make the playoffs with a QB that led the league in passing yards and passing touchdowns, it may be wise to move on from him.
