Best group on the Saints
By: Jake Rajala
The New Orleans Saints are widely seen to have a poor roster. Still, there has to be a group that shines over the rest of the team. With that said, I’m going to unfold the best position group on the Saints.
I believe the best group is DL.
Chase Young is up and down, but I believe he is still growing at 26 years old. He had 5.5 sacks and 66 pressures (which was seventh in the league). Carl Granderson also had 5.5 sacks! He also had nine tackles for loss. He recorded 8.5 sacks in 2023. I believe he still has that in him, especially with the new DC Brandon Staley. Bryan Bresee led the team in sacks last season with 7.5 sacks. He is their best pass rushing IDL since Nick Fairly, in my opinion. Cam Jordan is a bit washed up, but he can still be a force against the run. He plays with a high motor always.
The next best position group on the Saints is the WR group. They have one of the most explosive WR tandems in the league with Chris Olave and Rasheed Shaheed. The question is: can they stay healthy? They also added Brandin Cooks this past off-season, as well. Of course, Cooks was drafted by the Saints in the first round.
The tackle position is the third best spot on the team. Taliese Fuaga is a bully in the run game and he can really get to the second level fast. Their other tackle is Kelvin Banks Jr, who was their 2025 first round pick. He had a score (from NFL.com) of 82, which was third among offensive tackles. Not only are these two tackles gifted, but they are just scratching the surface. I can’t wait to see how productive they are in a few seasons.
The Saints aren’t a bad football team. They have a few bright spots. The issue is that they are quite young across the board. They should improve in the back-half of the season. The biggest question is: will the Saints (young) QB hold back the squad?
