Why Dan Quinn could win Coach of The Year

Quinn could win COTY

Dan Quinn was once seen as a defensive mastermind with his Legion of Boom defense. Well, he has transcended into a head coach. In the nation’s capital, he has had positive results thus far. With that said, I believe he could win Coach of The Year next season.

It isn’t all about wins and losses, when it comes to winning COTY. Kevin O’Connell was second in wins in his own division, behind the Detroit Lions. Yet, he won the prestigious award. I could totally see the Washington Commanders having 12 wins, yet being stuck behind the Philadelphia Eagles, and Quinn going on to winning the honor. The Eagles are more well-built than the Commanders, so it would be more impressive if the Commanders had 12 wins in comparison to Philly having 12 or 13 wins.

We should expect the Commanders to be more potent than last season. They added Deebo Samuel, who is one of the most versatile players in the league. They also added Marshon Lattimore in the middle of last season. They brought back Bobby Wagner and recently signed Von Miller. It appears they are keeping Terry McLaurin, too. They are clearly gearing up for a Super Bowl push.

The Commanders also play in an NFC East division, where Dak went 3-5 last season and the New York Giants went 3-14 (yes, you read that correctly). The Commanders are putting up fireworks against each divisional foe.

The Commanders also beat Philly once in the regular season.

The Commanders also have momentum going into this upcoming season, after a strong playoff push last season. They beat the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, who were one of the most explosive offenses in the league. Then they knocked off the Detroit Lions in the divisional round by a score of 45-31. After two big wins, they did get blown out by the Philadelphia Eagles by a score of 55-23, however.

If the Commanders get just a couple of more wins than last season and split games with Philly (for the second straight season), I could see Quinn getting COTY. They will need Jayden Daniels to take a step up from last season.
