Adams to the Raiders

The Las Vegas Raiders brought in former second round pick Geno Smith, who played under Pete Carroll in Seattle. Smith will seek to wreak havoc along the other new Raider, Ashton Jeanty, and the second-year tight end Brock Bowers. Well, it appears that Carroll isn’t done rolling the dice and bringing in familiar faces. It was just announced that former Hawk Jamal Adams will sign with the Raiders.
So, the question is: what does Adams bring to the Raiders?
Adams has been all over the map for the past few seasons. He played in 15 combined games over 2022, 2023, and 2024.
I believe he still has potential to shine in the right system. He isn’t an interception machine, but he will lay the boom. He had a modest 2023 season in my opinion, where he recorded 48 tackles and several TFLs in 9 games. He could have had a career high in TFLs if he stayed healthy.
Adams once recorded 9.5 sacks from the safety spot. If he is on a blitz, he can run through a wall. He fits well in the box, to say the least.
He only had 40 snaps last season, so I won’t judge him.
Adams will join a secondary that needs him to play a lot, as LV lost Marcus Epps and Tre’von Moehrig. Even if Adams isn’t an All-Pro anymore, he can be a Top 20 safety, especially if he has a quality pass rush to help him not get burnt.
Adams is 29 years old, so he still has a few seasons left. He just can’t afford to get another injury, or he will really slow down. Tyrann Mathieu played until 33 and Harrison Smith is 36. Age is just a number, especially when it comes to safeties who are accustomed to playing in the box.
Adams can really in a division that has three offensive geniuses in Sean Payton, Andy Reid, and Jim Harbaugh. I hope the Raiders don’t slow down with making moves, wether it’s helping their defense slow down the likes of Patrick Mahomes, or helping their offense slice up Vance Joseph’s defense.
