Hill vs Waddle
By: Jake Rajala
It wasn’t long ago that Tyreek Hill was voted as the best player in the league. Well, things took a turn south last season. He failed to eclipse 1k yards, and he missed the Pro Bowl for the first time in his career! Yes, you read that correctly. With that said, is he still the WR1 in Miami?
I still believe that Hill is the guy in Miami (as shown below).
The other prominent WR on the roster is Jaylen Waddle. Waddle has averaged 1,032 yards a season up to this point. He has also recorded 111 targets a season. He hasn’t been a red-zone threat. He has only 20 touchdowns in four seasons. PFF handed him a grade of 72.1 last season.
As for Hill, things are quite different. Hill has averaged 1,489 yards a season. Furthermore, he has picked up 154 targets per season. He also has 26 touchdowns in three seasons! PFF gave Hill a grade of 72.7 last season.
I believe it’s worth mentioning that there was a dip in their performances due to Tua only playing in 11 games! I fully expect each Phins WR to unleash hell with their QB1 back next season.
Hill had 123 targets last season, while Waddle had 83 targets. I still believe there’s more trust in Hill, especially if Tua is sidelined. The back-up will feed Hill until the cows come home.
Regardless of Hill having the edge over Waddle, each wideout can win with the same style. They can take it the distance with a screen or cook a safety over the top.
I wouldn’t be overly surprised if Hill gets traded to a new team within a couple of seasons. Perhaps he makes a return to Kansas City. He is also 31 years old. I believe he will be the WR1 for a couple of more seasons and then Waddle will take over. I wouldn’t be head over heels for Hill in a dynasty league.
