Anthony Richardson trade spots
By: Jake Rajala
The dual-threat quarterback Anthony Richardson has failed to beat out Daniel Jones for the starting quarterback spot in Indianapolis. I believe it’s quite unfortunate. It’s agonizing, especially given the fact that Daniel Jones isn’t a Top-20 QB. Ultimately, I wouldn’t be blown away if the Colts decided to ship away Richardson. Hence, I’m going to unfold trade destinations for the former first round pick.
New York Jets
Justin Fields and Richardson both hold similar attributes. They can beat you with their legs and throw the football over a mountain. Richardson can look up to Fields for inspiration. Fields has been on a roller coaster up to this point. Richardson can realize if he shines day in and day out, he can get the keys to a QB1 spot on a new team (or potentially in the Big Apple).
New Orleans Saints
For starters, the Saints don’t have a quality QB bound to start between Spencer Rattler and Tyler Shough. The Saints QBs simply need more time to prove themselves. I’d like to see them sit for another season. Richardson may be a sharp fit for the Saints. Kellen Moore coached a dual-threat QB last season by the name of Jalen Hurts. He may be able to work wonders with Richardson.
Arizona Cardinals
It’s time to put the heat on Kyler Murray. He has often been injury-prone or average. He only played in eight games in 2023, 11 games in 2022, and 14 games in 2021! The current Cardinals QB2 Jacoby Brissett doesn’t have the same ceiling as Richardson. If Richardson plays lights out, we could very well see Murray on the trade block.
Miami Dolphins
Similar to Kyler Murray, Tua Tagovailoa has had injury issues. He only played in 11 games last season, 13 games in 2022, and 13 games in 2021! Tua also hasn’t quite proven himself to get a record breaking contract. Let’s also not forget that Mike McDaniel loves to make blockbuster trades.
Pittsburgh Steelers
Aaron Rodgers would be the perfect mentor to Richardson. Richardson can also be groomed to replace the 41 year old QB, after he “hopefully” rides off into the sunset. I’d love to see Richardson get comfortable in the Steelers offense before being thrown in the fire next off-season.
