Bold predictions for the Falcons
By: Jake Rajala
The Atlanta Falcons will take on their division foe, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, in Week 1. Each team is geared up to win the NFC South. With that said, I’m going to take a fun angle by unfolding 4 bold predictions for the Falcons.
Kyle Pitts records over 100 yards and scores a touchdown
PFF wasn’t too kind for Kyle Pitts last season. He had a score of 59.6 last season. He also wasn’t potent as a run blocker. I foresee him being used more in the slot and benefiting from a young quarterback in Michael Penix, who will make Pitts a security blanket.
Grady Jarrett gets three TFLs
Grady Jarrett will take care of Baker Mayfield. Baker will try and make something out of nothing. I suspect Jarrett will pressure Baker and force the Bucs to run the ball, which will help Jarrett make some magic happen against the Bucs running game and record a pair of tackles for loss.
Michael Penix Jr. has three turnovers
I believe that Michael Penix can throw a pair of touchdowns, but I believe he will throw more interceptions than touchdowns. Penix is still learning to play QB1. Penix will try and force it too much against a team that’s their biggest rival. Don’t get me wrong, Penix has a beautiful arm and can make tight windows look effortless. I just believe he will have some rust early on.
Bijan Robinson doesn’t run over 100 yards
Adam Schefter may have picked Bijan Robinson in the first round, but that doesn’t make Bijan on the same level as Saquon Barkley or Derrick Henry. I foresee the Bucs, who have Vita Vea and Lavonte David, will sell out to stop the run. I still expect Robinson to run over 1000k yards, but I believe his team won’t help him to kick off a hot start to the season.
