Eagles WRs vs Cowboys WRs: who has the edge?

Eagles WRs vs Cowboys WRs

By: Jake Rajala

The Philadelphia Eagles combat the Dallas Cowboys in a week. It is bound to be glorious. The spotlight will certainly be on each wide receiver group. The top Eagles WRs are A.J. Brown and Devonta Smith. Meanwhile, the best Cowboys WRs are Ceedee Lamb and George Pickens. The question is: which team has a better WR pair?

Lamb recorded 101 catches, 1,194 yards, and six touchdowns. He is somewhere around a Top-8 to Top-12 WR in my opinion. PFF gave him a grade of 77.3, which is the opposite of sexy. He has a new sidekick this offseason by the name of George Pickens. The former Steelers WR notched 900 yards, while missing a few games. PFF gave him a grade of 76.9 which is modest.

The book worm, A.J. Brown unleashed a 90.9 PFF grade last season, which was third among all WRs! Brown was a physical beast and he was quite challenging to take down in space. The former Heisman winner, Devonta Smith had 8 TDs, which helped him score a PFF grade of 82.3!

In the end, each team has a elite WR duo. I believe that Brown is a 9/10 and Smith is a 7.5/10. As for Dallas, I believe Lamb is an 8.5 out of 10 and Pickens is a 7.5/10. So, I’d give the Eagles WR pair a slight edge over Dallas. Even if the Eagles don’t have the same number of catches or yards, PFF can also beautifully showcase a methodical grade for each team’s WR duo.

Jalen Hurts isn’t a very common passer. He was 22nd in passing attempts last season. If Brown and Smith were playing with a QB that was in the Top 10 of passing attempts, they would have easily eclipsed 1k yards, and they would have double digit touchdowns. Hence, it would be clear they are a Top-3 WR duo.
