Golden can win OROY

The land of cheeseheads went crazy after the draft selection of Matthew Golden took place. The selection of Golden was the first time that the Pack drafted a WR in the first round since 2003 (when they picked Javon Walker). With that said, I’m going to unfold why Golden is special and can win Offensive Rookie of The Year.
- Pass defenses in the NFC North
Let it be known: the pass defenses in the NFC North have been dreadful. The Lions were 31st in passing yards allowed, the Vikings were 29th, and even the Bears weren’t above average (as they were 17th). There is a lot of potential for Golden to torch his close enemies. To be honest, the NFC North defenses didn’t make significant changes to their secondary, as well.
It should still be noted that the Vikings led the league in interceptions with 24. It requires some caution to test them a lot.
- Targets on roster
There hasn’t been a reliable, top-end target for the Packers as of late. The last time they had a WR that hogged all the targets was Davante Adams. Romeo Doubs led the team in targets last season with 76. I’d love to see a Packers WR with 100 grabs. Golden should be able to do so, given that he can excel in space. He can shine with screens and with deep passes.
- Running game
Josh Jacobs is one of the best running backs in the league. It may seem strange, but that can really help the play-action game. I remember watching the Saints (which is my favorite team) stroll out a heavy run package with two blistering fast WRs. They made the defense pick whether they wanted to sell out to stop the run or play back deep to prevent the WRs from torching them. This only works with a potent rushing attack.
