Bold predictions for Commanders
By: Jake Rajala
The Washington Commanders square off at home against the New York Giants. It is bound to be a dandy between the two NFC East squads. With that said, I’m going to take a unique angle by unfolding bold predictions for Washington.
Jayden Daniels gets sacked six times
Let it be known: the Giants have a three headed monster at DE. They carry Abdul Carter, Kavyon Thibodeaux, and Brian Burns. They all can obtain double digit sacks. Washington was 20th in sacks allowed last season, so there is opportunity for NY to capitalize on it.
Deebo Samuel gets over 150 total yards
If it wasn’t obvious, Deebo Samuel will get the ball in many unique ways. He got a jet sweep for a huge gain in a preseason match-up. He reminds me a lot of Percy Harvin. Samuel can shine with screens and even deep passes, as well.
Zach Ertz gets under 50 yards
I believe Zach Ertz is on his last legs. I believe there will be better x-factors than him, such as Austin Ekeler and Samuel (as pointed out). Ertz can still be a redzone threat, but I don’t believe he’s in line to get many targets.
Scary Terry gets a pair of touchdowns
Thankfully, Scary Terry signed a new contract, so he’s back on the field for the Commanders. He has recorded 1k yards in each of his past five seasons. He even brought home 13 TDs last season! I expect the chemistry between the QB1 and WR1 to be even stronger this season.
The Commanders will make magic happen, but it will come with a cost. The GMEN will play with their hair on fire, regardless of their talent. I’m thrilled to see how this underrated match-up plays out.
