Bears vs Vikings
By: Jake Rajala
Week 1 is around the corner. One of the most pivotal match-ups is the Vikings taking on the Bears at home. Each team is led out by a young quarterback. With that said, I’m going to lay out four bold predictions.
Adam Thielen gets over 100 yards
Of course, Adam Thielen was recently sent home by the Carolina Panthers. I believe there will be a lot of energy from Thielen in his first game back. Let’s not forget that Justin Jefferson will demand double coverage, which should open up things for him. The young J.J. McCarthy will likely throw to a veteran who knows the ins and outs, as well.
Caleb Williams throws three ints
I didn’t love the awareness by Caleb Williams this past preseason. He took too many sacks, just as he did last season. I believe his response early on will be to get rid of the ball too fast and force throws, which will result in a few ints. Plus, the Vikings ranked first in ints last season!
Harrison Smith has 10+ tackles, 2 TFLs, and an interception
Harrison Smith is a legend. At 36 years old, he continues to make plays on the back-end. He can also excel in the box. I foresee him playing with his hair on fire in Week 1, as he’s not beat up and washed up too much at this point. I believe he will be a force in the run and pass game.
Montez Sweat has two sacks
Let’s not forget: Montez Sweat is one of the most explosive pass rushers in the league. The Vikings were fourth in sacks allowed last season. I expect this combination of observations will result in Sweat mopping the floor against the Vikings pass protection.
