Replacements for Amari Cooper

Potential replacements for Amari Cooper

By: Jake Rajala

It’s official: Amari Cooper is retiring from the NFL. After a week of practicing with the Raiders, he’s decided that he’s finished at the pro level. With that said, I’m going to lay out potential replacements for him.

Michael Thomas

It may be time for the Raiders to bring Michael Thomas back from the dead. After some TB12 motivation, Thomas could shake off his rust and come for a year in Sin City. Thomas has the same ability as DK Metcalf, who Geno Smith played with over the past few seasons.

OBJ

Odell Beckham Jr. hasn’t retired quite yet. He’s still waiting for the right team. The Raiders need OBJ and he has leverage. Perhaps this is the moment where OBJ folds and signs with a quality team. OBJ can play the slot and out wide.

Chris Olave

Chris Olave’s name was floated around the trade block early in the offseason. I believe the Saints passing game will struggle with Olave. It may be wise to get an early draft pick out of him before he has pedestrian stats. Olave has gifted hands and instincts.

Jerry Jeudy

Similar to the Saints, the Cleveland Browns will likely have a putrid passing offense. Joe Flacco isn’t a Top-20 QB anymore. I don’t want to see Jerry Jeudy go down with the ship. Jeudy is only 26 years old, so he could be a long-term fit in LV.

Michael Pittman Jr.

The Colts arguably have the worst QB situation in the league. Daniel Jones is starting due to Anthony Richardson being worse than many back-up QBs. Daniel Jones is going to have his struggles, and Indy will lean heavily on J-Taylor. I’d like to see them cough up a young, gifted WR in Michael Pittman Jr, as he can’t save them.
