Replacement options for Tua Tagovailoa

There is no secret: Tua Tagovailoa was horrible in Week 1. This raises the question: Should the Dolphins replace Tua? I believe it would be wise to shop for a QB, rather than wait until mid-season. With that said, I’m going to lay out five QB targets for the Phins.
- Trey Lance
Trey Lance had a modest preseason. He can make plenty of plays with his legs, which could make Mike McDaniel dream of plays with him, such as QB draw, QB sweep, etc. Lance is only 25, so he has plenty of potential.
- Jimmy G
Jimmy G isn’t dead yet. Jimmy G has been working his butt off under Sean McVay. He has been getting a Harvard education in the football sense, as McVay is a genius. Jimmy G hasn’t had a losing season since 2018.
- Kirk Cousins
Kirk Cousins is old (37 years old), but he still has plenty of upside as a pocket passer. Cousins will most likely not see the field if Penix plays how he did in Week 1, which was an average outcome. Cousins wouldn’t cost a lot, at least.
- Joe Flacco
I didn’t love Joe Flacco’s first game, but he still has a plethora of arm talent. It wouldn’t be surprising if the Browns rolled with Dillon Gabriel or Shedeur Sanders soon. Flacco has gifted arm strength that would mesh well with the deep speed of Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle.
- Teddy Bridgewater
Teddy Bridgewater is one of the finest back-ups in the league. Teddy B has potent accuracy. It appears he will stay in the NFL, after drama with coaching. The Bucs can afford to trade him, as they still have Kyle Trask. He is 32, which is a year younger than Jimmy G.
Tua’s career isn’t finished, as he had one bad game. Even if he continues to struggle and gets benched for the rest of the season, he still has a lot of potential. A change of scenery may even be best for him.
