Vick vs Lamar
By: Jake Rajala
Michael Vick is one of the best dual-threat quarterbacks of all time. Besides being a Madden God, he was unstoppable on the field. Before getting jail time for dog fighting, Vick made a few Pro Bowls in Atlanta.
After returning from jail, he made a comeback in the NFL. In 2010, he went 8-3 as a starter and unleashed 30 total touchdowns. This led him to earn Comeback Player of The Year. It should be noted he had 30 touchdowns in 11 games. He only played in one full season in his career. Yes, you read that correctly.
Vick wasn’t flawless. The song “flaws” by Bastille fits him perfectly. He had 16 fumbles in 2004. He also threw 13 ints in 2005 and 2006.
I really wish he won a Super Bowl. He played under Andy Reid, alongside LeSean McCoy and Desean Jackson. It was the dream team. It wasn’t enough.
Lamar Jackson isn’t only one of the fastest QBs of all time, but he’s an excellent passer. He unleashed 41 passing touchdowns in 2024. He wants to be seen as one of the best passers in the league.
Lamar has had a hot start to the 2025 season as a pocket passer. He threw a pair of touchdowns in Week 1 against the Bills. He also threw 4,172 passing yards last season. He doesn’t need to have the same amount of passing yards that Drew Brees threw, if he can get in the end zone a lot.
Unlike Vick, Lamar has won MVP numerous times! He has also made four Pro Bowls.
Sadly, neither QB has won a Super Bowl. Lamar is still young, however. There is plenty of time for him to win a Lombardi. It won’t be easy, however. The Steelers have Rodgers on offense and T.J. Watt on defense. It also wasn’t long ago that the Bengals reached the Super Bowl.
So, is Lamar a better QB than the old-timer? Yes, Lamar is the better QB. Vick may be faster and more elusive, but Lamar is simply a better passer. This makes it hard for defenses to defend Lamar, because he can win in multiple ways.
