PFF loves Spencer Rattler
By: Jake Rajala
As you all know, the former fifth round pick Spencer Rattler was dubbed the 10th best QB by PFF. It’s bound to be Week 3 in a minute. So, the real question is: is Rattler actually a Top-10 QB?
Rattler has shown that he can be clutch. He threw a dart to Juwan Johnson in the end zone in the first game, which was dropped by Juwan. If he caught it, it would have sent the game to OT.
Rattler has also shown he can put up a lot of points, if the opposing QB is lighting it up. He unleashed a few touchdowns.
He has shown a lot of guts, as well. He ran into two 49ers defenders and somehow popped out and picked up several more yards!
Not only has Rattler looked impressive, but he’s done so against a stingy 49ers defense and an average Cardinals defense (to be fair), as well.
I have to say it: I believe Rattler is a Top-10 QB. I agree with Robert Saleh’s comments about Rattler. He said Rattler would be a “household name” this season.
This isn’t a fluke in my opinion. Players have raved about his arm talent and his leadership this offseason and even last year’s offseason. That’s a rare combination in this league.
There is one issue I have with Rattler. He needs to win games! I’d like to see him score on a 2-minute drive at the end of the half. Or perhaps he could scramble and run for a touchdown, just as we saw him scramble for a 2 point conversion in the preseason.
He does need more help from his defense, if he wants to get to the playoffs. His defense can’t allow backup QBs to look like a prime Tom Brady.
