Ja’Marr Chase vs Justin Jefferson: who has the edge?

Ja’Marr Chase vs Justin Jefferson

By: Jake Rajala

Ja’Marr Chase and Justin Jefferson are arguably the top two wide receivers in the league. Chase was selected fifth overall in the 2021 draft. Meanwhile, Jefferson was taken 22nd overall in the 2020 draft. Chase has lived up to expectations, and Jefferson has been a steal.

Chase recorded 1,455 yards and 13 touchdowns as a rookie, which led him to earn OROY. His best season thus far has come in 2024. He was first in receptions, yards, and touchdowns. Yes, you read that correctly.

In 2025, Chase had a quiet start, as he notched 2 grabs for 26 yards in Week 1. Then he came back alive and unleashed 14 catches for 165 yds in Week 2,

There is a reason to doubt Chase’s outlook. Joe Burrow will be out for a few months. I’d like to see the Bengals bring in a QB like Jameis Winston.

The talent in the division will foretell a lot. The Ravens and Browns haven’t exactly had the Legion of Boom.

Jefferson can only uplift his QB so much. Not only was he playing with an average, young QB J.J. McCarthy, but he will be playing with a lesser talented QB due to his injury.

Chase and Jefferson both have quite injured QBs.

Each prolific weapon has mostly stayed healthy, too. Chase has missed six games in his career. Jefferson has been MIA for seven games in his career.

Jefferson had a beautiful run and catch in Week 2. He failed to top 100 yards in Week 1 and Week 2, however. He unleashed 1,533 yards and 10 TDs in 2024.

If I was in a dynasty league, I would sell Jefferson. I know it’s early, but I just don’t believe he will be an All-Pro with McCarthy in the lineup. Perhaps the Vikings can acquire Mac Jones. I still have a lot of faith in Burrow when he returns, so keep Chase.

Ultimately, I like Chase more from a dynasty perspective. He has a better resume and an easier schedule than Jefferson. If the Vikings can bring in Kirk Cousins, I believe in Jefferson more in 2025.
