McBride vs Bowers
By: Jake Rajala
We always have to give love to the beautiful position: tight ends. I’m going to compare two Top-3 TEs, “Trey McBride” and “Brock Bowers”. McBride plays for the Arizona Cardinals, while Bowers plays for Las Vegas Raiders.
McBride has been consistent and lethal in 2025. He had six grabs in Week 1 and in Week 2. He recorded a TD in Week 3. PFF has handed McBride a grade of 75.5, which is fifth among TEs. He sits at third among TEs in receiving yds (182). McBride is third in targets among TEs, as well.
McBride recorded 1,146 yds last season!
McBride isn’t Gronk or Jimmy Graham, but he has reliable hands (unlike Mark Andrews). He is also a sharp route runner. It’s scary that he is so productive at the ripe age of 25! He is at the opposite stage of his career than Travis Kelce, who is 35!
Besides Marvin Harrison Jr, there isn’t a lot of talent at the WR spot in AZ. It really opens things up for the young TE to blossom.
Bowers was arguably the best TE last season. It made them forget about Darren Waller. He recorded 1,194 yds and seven TDs. He earned first team All-Pro honors. The scary part is that Bowers was a rookie last season. He is only 22 years old!
In 2025, Bowers has a PFF grade of 76.7, which is fourth among TEs.
Without Davante Adams, Bowers should be the go-to guy. I’m still waiting to see if Tucker can sustain his magic.
Ultimately, I’m putting my card in the Bowers pool. He has shown to be versatile, by being a threat on third downs and in the red zone. McBride only scored 1 TD in 2024, which isn’t exactly sexy.
McBride and Bowers are still very young. They have Hall of Fame potential, even if it seems early to say that. I’m excited to see them grow in their offenses and help their team make the playoffs.
