It’s time to buy Drake Maye in dynasty

Buy Drake Maye right now

By: Jake Rajala

Is it obvious how I’m excited I am about Drake Maye? Well, it’s partially due to the fact that I just acquired him in a trade. My trade partner had Lamar Jackson as the QB1.

Maye was a Pro Bowler as a rookie, and he’s only blossomed in his second season. He is the #6 QB as it stands. He threw 16.78 pts in Week 1, 26.3 pts, and 20.22 pts last week.

The scary part is that Maye is only 23 years old.

Maye arguably has the most favorable schedule among QBs. Notably, he plays the Panthers, Saints, Titans, Browns, Falcons, Dolphins again, and the Jets twice.

He has modest weapons with Stefon Diggs and Hunter Henry, but he could certainly benefit from more firepower. I suspect they will only improve the weapons around him this off-season. They also know they need to improve more if they want to beat the Bills, who are a Super Bowl favorite by countless analysts.

Maye has a PFF grade of 71.2, but it doesn’t tell his whole story. Maye can make magic happen when the situation isn’t pretty. He isn’t a dual threat QB, but he had a rushing TD in Week 2. He has also played well with a weak running game.

It’s the perfect time to buy Maye, before he goes on a streak of dominance against pedestrian foes. Maye isn’t Tom Brady, but he is the next best thing.

The only thing holding back Maye is an injury. He doesn’t take too many gruesome hits. PFF has ranked his OL as the 15th best OL.

The Pats OC Josh McDaniels also knew the ins and outs with Tom Brady. He is well prepared to help talented QBs. He made the average QB Jimmy G look sharp in NE.

I traded Ashton Jeanty and Bo Nix for Maye and a third round pick. I believe Maye is worth a first round pick, no doubt. A young stud with a QB could be enough to acquire the young Pats QB.
