QBs to trade away
By: Jake Rajala
There are plenty of quarterbacks who should be traded away. I’m going to unfold five QBs to ship away in Week 5.
Matthew Stafford
The former Detroit Lion Matthew Stafford is coming off a game where he had 27.4 pts in Week 5. Don’t take the bait. Stafford has had three games under 20 pts. Yikes. Stafford is also likely retiring after this season. It would be wise to trade Stafford and a pick for a younger QB, such as Justin Fields.
Geno Smith
Geno Smith is a roller coaster QB. He had 26 pts in Week 3 and then followed it up with 12.78 pts last week. I love Brock Bowers, but he isn’t a Hall of Fame TE yet. He can’t carry the interception machine in Smith. Tre Tucker is a modest WR2, but he’s hit or miss. I imagine the Raiders will take a QB early in 2026, in part due to Tom Brady having a say in it. Smith turns 35 in October. The Raiders are also arguably the worst team in an AFC West division.
CJ Stroud
I really don’t love CJ Stroud’s trajectory. He hasn’t had a single game above 20 pts. He’s also in a putrid offense. He has one of the league’s worst offensive lines. Outside of Nico Collins, he doesn’t have any sexy weapons. Christian Kirk is washed up. Stroud is still a former first round pick with some success. I’d use his short resume to trade him before he continues to struggle all of 2025.
Kyler Murray
Kyler Murray hasn’t scored a game over 20 pts this season. Yes, you read that correctly. Even with Trey McBride and Marvin Harrison Jr, Murray has failed to play anywhere a Pro Bowl QB. Murray can’t even excel with his legs, as he has zero rushing TDs. He is the 15th best QB in fantasy. He is also the 15th best QB via PFF.
Spencer Ratttler
Sure, the former fifth round pick Spencer Rattler has a lot of arm talent. However, he is 0-10 as a starter. He can throw a lot of passing yards and even touchdowns, but he can’t continue to lose, or the 2025 second round pick Tyler Shough will get the nod. I foresee Shough starting soon. I’d be surprised if the Sants don’t draft a QB with a likely Top-5 pick in 2026.
