The rise of Juwan Johnson: dynasty

Juwan Johnson outlook

By: Jake Rajala

The former Oregon Duck Juwan Johnson burst onto the scene in 2025. After being a modest tight end/slot wide receiver in 2024, he looks like a Pro Bowler in 2025.

Johnson had 548 yards and three touchdowns a season ago.

Johnson is third in targets among TEs. However, he is eighth in receiving yards among TEs. Clearly, dynasty owners of Juwan and Who Dat Nation want Juwan to average more yards per catch.

Johnson is seventh among TEs in dynasty. He scored 15.6 pts, 15.9 pts, 11.1 pts, and then took a dip and scored 5.8 pts.

The ultimate question is: should I try to get Juwan on my roster? I absolutely believe everybody should try to get Juwan on their rosters.

Spencer Rattler is fourth in passing attempts. He will be throwing a lot under Kellen Moore. He can throw it to Chris Olave, who is fourth in targets, and still find Juwan a lot. Rattler doesn’t like throwing to Alvin Kamara. Plus, Kendre Miller is getting more involved in the offense.

The Saints haven’t stretched the field a lot. They could try to take more shots to the blistering fast Rashid Shaheed. Nonetheless, Rattler still has his training wheels on, and Moore doesn’t want him throwing it deep.

Juwan is still scratching the surface. He is six years younger than Taysom Hill and nine years younger than Jimmy Graham.

Juwan is on pace to smash his previous best stats. He would finish with 867 yards. This may change as Rattler gets more chemistry and trust with Juwan.

The Saints TE1 may be a lot younger than Hill, but Hill could take a chunk off Juwan’s plate. It’s vital to see how involved Hill will be, as the swiss army knife has returned to practice. Hill could play a couple of more seasons, too.

I believe that Juwan has still left a lot on the field. He dropped a touchdown in Week 1.

He has a PFF grade of 61.8. He needs to be more consistent and not have any drops (as he has 4). He also needs to be stronger with the ball after the catch.

Ultimately, I believe Juwan has shown to be worth his contract extension this prior offseason. He should be their TE1 no matter what, but I believe he will average fewer targets per game as the season goes on. I’d like to see him get more TDs and big catches, nonetheless.
