Dynasty RBs outlook
By: Jake Rajala
Running backs are arguably the most vital position. Well, as the trade deadline approaches, I’m going to lay out a few RBs to trade away and a few RBs to trade for. Let’s begin.
Trade for:
Javonte Williams
Where the bloody hell did Javonte Williams come from? He sits as the third best RB in fantasy. He has three games of at least 20 points As defenses focus on Dak Prescott and the passing game, who may win MVP, things open up for Williams. The beautiful part is that Javonte is 25, as well. He is night and day from the RB he was in Denver.
Jacory Croskey-Merrit
Jacory is a bad man. He unleashed 7.9 YPC and two rushing touchdowns last week. The threat of a rushing QB – whether it’s Marcus Mariota of Jayden Daniels – opens up the rushing attack for Washington. Let it be known that he has a PFF grade of 84.9, which is second among RBs! He had 27 pts in Week 5. He also had 10 pts and 14 pts in other two contests. I’m not thrilled about him dropping 1.7 points in Week 2, however. It was one bad day. Without Austin Ekeler, Jacory has gotten more touches.
Cam Skattebo
Everybody loves Cam Skattebo right now. He brings back memories of Peyton Hillis or Steve Jackson. Everybody saw the clip where he pancaked Saints DE Carl Granderson, too! Cam fumbled in Week 5, which resulted in a recovery for a Saints touchdown. Cam isn’t quite a receiving threat yet. Cam is a dark horse to win OROY. Yes, you read that correctly. He is doing his best to help out his rookie friend at QB.
Trade away:
Derrick Henry
Ever since the 6’4, 250 lb Derrick Henry suffered a fumble at the hands of Aidan Hutchinson, he hasn’t quite dominated. Henry had 7 pts in Week 4 and 9 pts in Week 5. Ouch. He merely has a PFF grade of 53.2, which is 46th among 47 RBs. He isn’t anywhere near the RB he was last season and in his OPOY season. Furthermore, he’s 31 years old and not getting any younger soon. He looks as if a DE decided to play RB. He can truck and stiff arm defenders, but he’s not going far with the football right now.
Ashton Jeanty
I picked Ashton Jeanty in the first round. It’s safe to say that was a mistake. He may be a Top-20 RB, but he’s not going to win OROY. He did have a monster 31 pt game in Week 4. I still don’t love his first few games (where he scored 12 pts, 7 pts, and 6 pts). I believe Jeanty would still be worth a first round pick in a trade. That should be worth it.
Joe Mixon
Joe Mixon is injured right now and he’s 29 years old. He isn’t the answer long-term. It won’t be easy for him to excel with his OL. After all, Nick Chubb (who is on my fantasy team) has struggled to dominate. Mixon could be flipped for a second round pick. He still has an impressive resume. Mixon didn’t have a game over 10 pts in his final three games in 2024.
As you can see, there is a wide variety of RBs. There are a few young lads and a few veteran ball-carriers. The question is: which RB should be moved? Well, I like the list at this point in time. I hope you consider following my advice if you have one of these RBs.
