Dak Prescott’s outlook in dynasty

By: Jake Rajala

The former fourth round pick at QB, Dak Prescott, has been quite the field general in his career. He’s led the league in passing touchdowns and completions in two separate seasons. As of late, Prescott has struggled to stay on the field. He only played in eight games last season. He also went 3-5 in the process.

In 2025, it appears he is going to have another special year. He has chemistry with Brian Schottenheimer. It’s quite impressive that he is a very early MVP candidate given that Ceedee Lamb has been sidelined (as he should be back soon). They have to rely on George Pickens and Jake Ferguson. So far, so good. Pickens is making insane catches along the sidelines. Ferguson is proving to be a Top-10 TE. The x factor has to be Javonte Williams, who has been playing like a Top-5 RB right now. I also must admit he’s on my dynasty team, and he’s excelling as an all-around quality back.

With that said, a fascinating angle rests on Prescott: where does he rank in dynasty?

Fantasy Pros pegs Prescott as the 19th best QB in dynasty. That is blasphemy in my opinion. On Sleeper, he is slotted as the fourth best QB. I would say Prescott is where Sleeper places him.

He has three games of at least 23 pts. He has a single season high of 30.96 pts. It’s crucial that a QB has performances (like 31 pts) like that, so they can beat foes that have few losses or no losses.

PFF has given Dak a grade of 90.8, which is fourth among QBs. It’s safe to say PFF makes Fantasy Pros look bad.

I would put Prescott at the fourth QB spot. Let’s compare how he does to Jalen Hurts. Not only is Hurts ranked as the fifth best QB by Fantasy Pros, but he also is in the same division as Prescott.

Well, Hurts only has a couple of games above 20 pts scored. It’s still fair to give him props because he is a threat through the air and on the ground.

So, where does Sleeper place Hurts? It places him at 5th overall. Cowboys nation should be delighted to hear that. Hurts may have a Super Bowl win, but he is still on the tail of Prescott in dynasty.

As previously noted, Dak doesn’t have Lamb, who is arguably a Top-5 WR. With Lamb back, I believe Dak can be in the same conversation as Jared Goff and Josh Allen. At least all the QBs mentioned should be playing for another several years.

Not only does have an elite WR duo, but his squad is tied for sixth in sacks allowed. They didn’t allow Micah Parsons to ruin their offensive script. I would have liked to see Dak beat the Green Bay Packers.

With that all noted, the ultimate question is: what should Prescott cost in a trade? I believe he’s worth a young, gifted QB, and a first round pick. Justin Fields has been on fire in fantasy. He scored 27 pts in Week 4 and 25 pts in Week 5. Perhaps Fields and a first round pick could be used to acquire the Boys QB.

There is one thing to get off my chest. Dak plays in a competitive division. He has already played Philly and lost. The worst part is that he only scored 7.82 pts in the game. He did manage to score 23 pts against the GMEN, but they have a horrid defense. They were just torched by the young Spencer Rattler.
