Ravens fantasy outlook
By: Jake Rajala
The Baltimore Ravens have one of the most explosive offenses when Lamar Jackson is healthy. Without Lamar, the Ravens were defeated 44-10 in Week 5. Ouch. The Ravens QB2, Cooper Rush, threw three ints, which is far from a recipe for success.
With that said, I’m going to discuss the outlook and fantasy profile for the notable Ravens players.
Lamar Jackson
Lamar had 29 pts, 26 pts, and then 27 pts in his first three games. Well, everything went downward in Week 4, where he only scored 11.68 pts. So, is it time to panic? Absolutely not. It was one bad moment, to be fair.
I love that Lamar gets a bye week in Week 7. That should get him more time to heal. He gets to play in a division that doesn’t exactly have stellar defenses. The Bengals rank 30th, the Browns rank 22nd, and the Steelers rank 21st in PPG allowed. That sounds like music to the ears of Lamar.
Derrick Henry
I hope Aidan Hutchinson didn’t scare Derrick Henry and make Henry feel he can’t handle a load quite yet. King Henry has scored below 10 pts in each of his prior two contests. He also has a 2 pt game (which came in Week 2). The combination of production and age should make him expendable in my opinion. If you hold onto him too long, it may be too late to get an early draft pick for him. Henry just isn’t the same RB he was when he unleashed 2k rushing yards. If you can get a first round pick for him, it would be wise to accept that. He would be worth a trade for Ashton Jeanty.
Zay Flowers
The smooth route runner Zay Flowers is gifted, but I don’t believe he’s a WR1 in fantasy. He’s had four games of at least 10 points. He had a 3.3 game, but even Ja’Marr Chase has had his bad days. Flowers is also 25, so he has a bright future. PFF has given him a grade of 79.7, which is sixth among WRs. I would say he’s a flex starter. I would not trade away Flowers. He’s doing well with a QB that will be an MVP candidate year in and year out. I expect Lamar to pass the ball more when Henry is out of the picture, which could realistically happen within a couple of seasons.
DeAndre Hopkins
D-Hop is all about winning a Lombardi trophy at this stage in his career. He was right to move on from the KC Chiefs with that goal in mind. He’s not going to be a Top-10 WR and he knows that. Hopkins had 11.5 pts in Week 1 and then 14.4 pts in Week 2. Since then, he has failed to score more than 10 pts in a contest. Hopkins is just as reliable as someone like OBJ or Michael Thomas would be at this stage in their career. Hopkins can still make dazzling catches at times. He doesn’t have enough snaps for a PFF grade.
Mark Andrews
Mark Andrews should be forgiven for his playoff woes. Still, he has proven to be an elite TE right now. He had 1.5 points, 1.4 points, then he popped out with 27 points! He followed it up with 10 points. Then he went right back down to scoring 4.2 points. He’s the 17th best TE. I recommend trading him ASAP. He still has a juicy resume. Yet, he will soon have an average season. Then we are looking at an older, burnt out TE. He has a PFF grade of 65.6, which is below satisfying.
