Sell Josh Allen?
By: Jake Rajala
The Buffalo Bills beloved QB Josh Allen was on another planet last season, as he won MVP. He unleashed 28 passing touchdowns to six ints. He also had 12 rushing TDs. It’s hard to stop a QB from going in the end zone when the QB is 6’5, 230 pounds.
Allen has had an up-and-down 2025 season. He started out 4-0 and was widely considered the MVP favorite. Well, he’s lost two straight. The teams that beat him weren’t exactly 12-13 win teams. (as they were the Falcons and the Patriots). In this season, he’s thrown for nine touchdowns, 1,217 passing yards, and two ints. I don’t believe those are daunting stats, still.
In comparison to Allen, Spencer Rattler has unveiled the same amount of passing yards. Yes, you read that correctly.
Allen has a PFF grade of 86.3, which is good enough for the fifth spot. I disagree that Allen deserves this spot. Not only does have the same amount of passing yards as the 24 year old, Rattler. He also has the same amount of touchdowns as Bo Nix.
In the dynasty realm, Allen is coming off his second to last worst game. He only scored 17.4 points, which came against a lackluster Falcons defense. He scored 11.82 points in Week 2. He is slotted as the seventh best QB via Sleeper.
Allen is nearly being outplayed by his rival and my QB, Drake Maye. Maye also has only had two games below 20 points.
So, the question revolving Allen is: should he be moved? If I was a Allen owner, I would try to flip him for Maye or Jayden Daniels. Either QB is elite and young at the same time. Daniels’s worst game was 17 points (when he was healthy), which came in Week 5. It may be hard to accept, but Allen is on the cusp of turning 30 years old. Allen can’t take too many hits, which is hard with his playing style. I also really dislike how the Bills failed to add any serious weapons for Allen. He needs his infinity stones.
I don’t love the idea of Allen unleashing 38 points in a game anymore. Of course, he did in Week 1 against the Baltimore Ravens. Let’s not ignore that even CJ Stroud dropped a season high of 28 points against the Ravens defense.
Ever since Allen’s first week, Allen has averaged 19.7 points per game. This doesn’t spell elite QB play.
Young QBs are trending up, while Allen is decaying. Cam Ward and Rattler recently got their first win. Bryce Young is a modest leader at 3-3.
As noted, Allen needs more firepower. It may be wise to bring in someone like OBJ or Michael Thomas. They could help for a playoff run. Trading for a WR could also be an option. Allen will need to be geared up well if he wants to beat any of the AFC West teams not in Las Vegas.
