Buy Jayden Daniels right now
By: Jake Rajala
The Washington Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels wants to prove he can win a Super Bowl right away, as he reached the NFC Championship last season. He will face obstacles. It’s not easy for a young QB or a dual-threat QB to win a Super Bowl. Well, he is young and a dual-threat QB. He was a double edge sword in Week 6 (as shown below).
Daniels has unleashed several TDs to one int this season. From a fantasy perspective, he has averaged 19.9 points in each game this season. If you take away Josh Allen’s first big game, he has averaged 19.7 PPG. To put it like this: Jayden is playing slightly above average in my opinion.
He had six games of at least 28 points last season. I believe the explosion on the Commanders offense is somewhat bottled up and will be released as Daniels shakes the rust off from his injury.
I really believe it’s time to buy Daniels. He is coming off a somewhat pedestrian performance. Let other people drink the kool-aid. He will bounce back, especially when Scary Terry returns.
He unleashed 29 passing TDs last season. Aaron Rodgers threw for 28 touchdowns! I’m not even factoring in the impact Daniels has had with his legs (as he ran for 891 yards and six TDs).
Daniels has a PFF grade of 78.5 thus far this season.
Daniels and his cast really remind me of Michael Vick and his crew in Philly. Daniels has Deebo Samuel and Zach Ertz. He still doesn’t have Scary Terry back from his injury. Vick had DeSean Jackson and LeSean McCoy. The Eagles offense was known as the “Dream Team”.
The challenging part of Jayden’s outlook is his division. Philly is seen as a Super Bowl contender, but they lost to the Giants. Meanwhile, the Boys beat the Giants. It’s hard to crack the code. Well, one could say it’s the NFL and anything can happen.
I do like the Commanders defense and their trajectory. They are 13th in PPG allowed. Bobby Wagner is an impressive leader in that unit.
So, now that I’ve covered the beautiful aspects of Jayden. The question is: what would it take to buy Daniels? I believe a first round pick and a slightly above average QB would be needed to pull off such a deal.
I acquired Drake Maye in a trade a few weeks ago. It’s easier to reel in younger QB early in their career, before they start to shine. Of course, you have to be superb at projecting how successful each young QB will be.
Jordan Love, Trevor Lawrence, and CJ Stroud with a first round pick would all be feasible options used to acquire Daniels. Of course, the three QBs listed are not the only QB options. If you really don’t want to cough up a QB in an exchange for Daniels, a first and second round pick may suffice to land the highly gifted Commanders QB.
