Deep stashes for Week 7
By: Jake Rajala
There is always plenty of room for underrated, hindered available players. I’m going to take a deep dive into players to consider adding for Week 7.
Justin Tucker
Tucker will be suspended until Week 11. He has interest from several teams already. It wasn’t long ago that Tucker was the best kicker in the league. He’s owned by 7% of rosters. It would be wise to get Tucker for the crucial playoff run. He had six double digit point games last season.
Chicago Bears defense
How did I miss it? The Bears defense had 11 points in Week 1, 12 pts in Week 3, 11 points in Week 4, and then 9 points in Week 6. The Bears defense has a lot of talent and the aggressive Dennis Allen is calling the shots on defense. They have a lot of momentum after their MNF victory over the Commanders.
Michael Mayer
Brock Bowers will be held out through the Week 8 bye. Michael Mayer has nicely stepped into the key role. He recorded 16 points last Sunday! He had a season high of 7 targets. He has a PFF grade of 76, which is sixth among TEs. I don’t expect him to produce after Brock returns, however.
J.J. McCarthy
Don’t lose faith in J.J. McCarthy. He will surely be the QB1 when he is back from injury. According to Fantasy Pros, he could return this week if practice goes well. McCarthy still has an elite wideout in Justin Jefferson and Pro Bowl TE in T.J. Hockenson. J.J. had a modest 22 points in Week 1, but he took a downward spiral and only scored 4.82 points in Week 2. We witnessed Drake Maye and Justin Fields have inconsistencies in their rookie seasons.
Jalen Coker
The Carolina Panthers WR Jalen Coker doesn’t have any stats this season because he’s been injured. Well, he’s bound to return Week 7 against the New York Jets. He only had 478 yards in 11 games last season, but he was a rookie playing among an awful passing attack. Coker is in line to be the WR3 (over Hunter Renfrow) at minimum moving forward. He did outplay Xavier Legette last season, so he could be the WR2.
Spencer Rattler
Spencer Rattler still has a sky-high ceiling, despite having a 1-5 record. He hasn’t had a game below 10 points. He is third in completions, which is impressive. He is still improving his chemistry with Rashid Shaheed and Chris Olave. He has yet to play the Panthers (21st) and Buccaneers (24th in PPG allowed) twice each. I expect him to have season high performances in those match-ups.
Blake Grupe
Blake Grupe is trending in the right direction. He had nine points in Week 4, 14 points in Week 5, and then 16 points in Week 6. Grupe takes advantage of an offense that struggles in the red zone. They don’t have a Jimmy Graham or even Darren Waller to throw touchdowns to in the end zone.
As shown, there are many different positions in my list. There are some players returning from injury, or players filling in for injured players. I hope my list can help you win a tough matchup.
