Buy, sell, or hold: young QBs

young QBs outlook

By: Jake Rajala

There has been a lot of action heating up at the quarterback spot, particularly among young QBs. With that simply said, I’m going to lay out whether one should buy, sell, or hold young QBs.

Drake Maye: hold

This isn’t a question. Drake Maye is playing like an MVP candidate. Thankfully, he’s on my fantasy team, too. He has five games of at least 20 points. His worst showcase came against the Bills, where he only scored 12 points. Maye also just happens to have a pedestrian schedule moving forward. In Week 8, he faces the Browns and the Falcons in Week 9. Maye could very well be first-team All-Pro.

Michael Penix Jr : hold

The Atlanta Falcons QB Michael Penix is still growing. He’s working through his growing pains, as he didn’t have a rookie season to do so. He had 12.24 points last weekend, so you would get little in return for him right now. I want to see him in synch with Drake London and Kyle Pitts.

Jayden Daniels: sell

I don’t love the outlook for Jayden Daniels. He has three games below 20 points. He is having injury issues and he couldn’t even shine when he had Terry McLaurin, which is important to note. Jayden has a tough schedule, as well. He faces KC, SEA, and DET in the next few games. Don’t drink the kool-aid from his rookie season.

J.J. McCarthy: sell

I don’t care if the Minnesota Wolverine J.J. has been up and down. I blatantly am not a McCarthy stan. He hasn’t separated himself from Carson Wentz enough, in my opinion. J.J. has also been in the medical tent too much over the past couple of season. We witnessed Joe Flacco light it up with Ja’Marr Chase. It’s time for J.J. to drop 35+ points with JJ.

Caleb Williams: hold

Caleb Williams is coming off a Sunday that he would like to forget. He had two fumbles and an interception. Spencer Rattler didn’t help his case either, as he threw 3 ints against the Bears. Williams was still able to evade many sacks in Week 7. I would wait for Williams to have an impressive game. He plays in a brutal division where he’s the third or fourth best QB.

Bo Nix: buy

It couldn’t be more tempting than breaking the bank for Bo Nix after he had a performance (4th quarter) to remember. He threw 2 TDs and ran for 2 TDs. His connection with Courtland Sutton is on fire. I’d like to see Nix beat Patrick Mahomes, before saying he’s a legend.

Spencer Rattler: buy

Rattler had his worst game of the season in Chi-town. He unleashed 2 TDs to 3 ints. I still love Rattler in the Saints offense. There have been impressive moments between Rattler and Rashid Shaheed and Chris Olave. I’d really like to see more screens to Alvin Kamara, too. They are all young, as well. I would flip a third round pick for Rattler.
